The owner of Thuyskamer walks down the stairs for a warm welcome. She introduces herself as Heleen and is sincerely enthousiastic about her store and it's products. While offering me a glass of homemade lemonade, she lets me wonder around and marvel at the cute displays. Vintage clothes in a huge cabinet, crazy jewelry, succulents, fine china, chairs and towels and napkins with illustrated puns on famous Dutch sayings amongst them. The products are either vintage, homemade or made by Dutch artists, also perfect for presents or souvenirs.

Thuyskamer means as much as a homely livingroom, which is the right name for this place. It's in the middle of the chaotic city centre, but is very cozy and relaxed. Shopdog Max lies upstairs, half asleep, cookies are being baked in the oven in the back... I'm keeping an eye on this shop, because she also organises a lot of events and activities that should be lots of fun. Of course I bought a couple of the sirop bottles, because it was delishes. Thanks Heleen!

The Amsterdam Travelogue doesn't accept any paid advertising, free services/products, goodies, bribes and so on. All the things and tips in my guides are there, because I love them.
