A new department store opened yesterday. Way out of the centre, but surely worth a trip to the far west. It's Waar & Huis, a temporary store where nothing is set in stone and anything is possible. Which means they are open to ideas and events, you can buy, see and do stuff, eat pies, get a drink. Students from the Artemis Academy helped setting up the store which should boost the local economy.

The funny thing: they actually sell items from stores around the area (for low prices), but tweak them a bit. Like Zeeman towels. If you hang them nicely and add a ribbon, they can pass for real design. Besides this, local artists sell their work. Learn to look at Nieuw-Sloten and it's commerce in a new way.

Yes, so it's all the way in Nieuw-Sloten. But hey, the weather is really nice and so get out there! Waar & Huis will be there 'till May.
